Large Brazilian Fertilizer Producer Eliminates Noise and Leakage Problems in Plant Expansion

Recognized around the world as one of the largest oil companies in operation today, Petrobras is actively creating a foundation for exploration, production, and supply of byproducts to enhance industrial progress in Brazil . One of its plants, Petrobras Fafen, operates a large 1100 tons/day (1,000,000kilograms/day) ammonia plant in Camacari, Bahia , Brazil, that is currently undergoing expansion to produce approximately 35 percent additional product output.

As a necessary part of this expansion and at the same time to eliminate past noise and leakage problems, new CCI DRAG® valves have been purchased for two control services.

The 10 inch (250-millimeter) Methanator (CO conversion) gas vent control valve is designed for a flow of 77 cubic feet/minute (163,000 cubic meters/hour) at a pressure of 90 psi (30 kilograms/square centimeters) and a temperature of 86°F (30°C).

The 4-inch (100-millimeter) purified Synthesis gas compressor recycle valve is designed for 54 cubic feet/minute (114,000 cubic meters/hour) at a pressure of 2200 psi (155 kilograms/square centimeters) at a temperature of 100°F (39°C).

CCI is proud to utilize its worldwide experience in tough service applications to deliver custom DRAG® Technology Solutions™ to major oil companies like Petrobras.
