Carmel Olefins Replaces Failed Boilerfeed Regulators for Its Haifa Facility
Last year, Carmel Olefins in Israel replaced failed boilerfeed regulating valves with DRAG® technology. The prior valves had failed due to excessive leakage and loss of controllability. This loss of controllability was indicative of high fluid trim velocity in a valve with minimum stages of pressure-reduction control. The unacceptable leakage resulted from low-flow operation where minimal plug/seat clearances created very high erosive flow velocities in this area.
CCI had several advanced-technology control valves at this facility with an excellent service record.
Following the success of the CCI valves installed in their plant, Carmel Olefins recently purchased three more characterized 3-in. (75-mm) angle valves for this severe-service application. These are designed for flows up to 37,000 lb/hr (16,900 kg/hr) with inlet pressures up to 2500 psig (172 BarG) and &Mac198;Ps as high as 2565 psi (170 Bar) at temperatures of 119 F (245 C).
