BP Amoco Replaces Leaky High-Pressure Valve on Pompano Platform

A 3-in. (80-mm) severe-service DRAG® valve has been installed by BP Amoco on this offshore platform in the Gulf of Mexico to replace a leaking, body eroded valve on this very high pressure (4500 psig [310 BarG]) seawater injection pump recycle service.

In addition, the Cv was increased over that of the failed valve to accommodate new operating conditions. The new valve is designed for flows up to 875 gpm (200 m3/hr) at a &Mac198;P of 4460 psi (308 Bar) and 120 F (50 C).

Also, of course, existing face-to-face had to be held, and unusually quick shipment was required.
