Atlantic LNG Prepares to Add Over Three MTPA in Trinidad Expansion

Atlantic LNG has ordered more than 30 compressor recycle and hydrocarbon control valves from CCI for nearly $2 million. These will serve the new Trains two and three in their LNG production expansion in Trinidad . These new trains will add over three MTPA to the plant’s capacity.

Recognizing DRAG® technology’s superiority in noise and vibration reduction in severe service control valve applications and fast-stroke speed, Atlantic LNG purchased CCI valves in place of the valve designs used in their previous Train one at the Trinidad LNG production facility.

These multi-stage, pressure-reduction valves produce low trim exit velocity heads (Hv) of 70 psi (480 KPa) to achieve low sound-power levels of less than 85 dBA. In addition, stroking speed from fully closed to open is less than one second using double-acting-piston, pneumatic actuators.

The compressor-recycle valves, ranging in size from 8-inch x 10-inch (200-millimeterx250-millimeter) to 18-inch x 18-inch (450-millimeter x 450-millimeter) handle capacities as high as 125,000 CFM (212,000 meters3/hour) at inlet pressures to 650 psia (44 BarA) and DPs of 440 psi (30 Bar) at temperatures up to 220 F (104 C). The 12-inch x 12-inch (300-millimeter x 300-millimeter) hydrocarbon control valves are designed for a normal maximum flow of 124,000 CFM (211,000 meters3/hour) at an inlet pressure of 680 psia (47 BarA) and a DP of 550 psi (38 Bar) at 100 F (37 C).
