Conoco's Expansion Efforts for their Platform Modifications
As part of Conoco’s expansion effort for the Viking BC-2 platform in the North Sea, contractor Haliburton Brown & Root (HBR) turned to CCI for critical service control valves on two compressor applications: compressor suction throttle, and compressor recycle/anti-surge. The compressor will be used to inject by-product hydrocarbon gas into the sea floor, which in turn will increase crude oil production rates. These valves will be used to enhance the efficiency and performance of the compressor, as well as provide a high degree of protection against potential surge conditions.
HBR Conoco utilized similar CCI products on compressors for the Murdoch Platform, as well as the Viking Platform. All of these platforms are in close proximity to one another, and are somewhat similar in operational objectives. Successful installations on these prior projects, as well as uncompromised performance, help to create a strong sense of confidence in CCI’s capability to provide high-integrity control valves for critical service functions.
