Survey Results - Atlantic LNG Prefers DRAG 115:1
Since their installation, CCI valves have proven to be a successful part of Atlantic LNG'S expansion project in Trinidad. Along with supplying a bilinear disk stack with 115:1 turn down capabilities, this initial order of 32 compressor recycle and two flare control valves will be serving the new trains (2 and 3). This production expansion is aimed at adding over three MTPA to the plant's capacity. Atlantic LNG purchased the CCI valves in place of the designs used in Train 1 at the Trinidad LNG production facility when it was realized that DRAG® technology offered superiority in noise, vibration reduction and fast-stroke speed, which is an absolute requirement for compressor recycle and flare valves.
This package was later increased to include one 30-in. (800-mm) and six 24-in. (600-mm) 600 ANSI feed gas regulator control valves, designed to control gas flow to the three LNG trains plus a future fourth and fifth train. The calculated flow requirements for the 30-in. (800-mm) valve had a required Cv of nearly 150 and a normal flow Cv of nearly 8800. The 30-in. (800-mm) valve supplied by CCI can also control and throttle down to a flow corresponding to 95 Cv and has a maximum capacity of 11,000 Cv.
Since installation, the feed gas valves have been put into service where they have been reported to exceed the customer's expectations in terms of controllability and noise performances. Described as an improvement over the old valves, there has not been any shaking of the line or pressure swings in the system.
