Fossil power plants
Combined cycle and conventional plants
For over 70 years, CCI’s Valve Doctors® have worked with fossil power plant operators to improve plant performance, reliability and output. Over 20,000 severe service valves and over 6,000 turbine-bypass systems have been installed worldwide using DRAG®, Sulzer and BTG technology, testifying to our industry leadership and innovative spirit. CCI specializes in offering comprehensive solutions to steam conditioning, turbine throttle/stop, turbine bypass, feedwater systems and other applications where an emphasis is placed on eliminating cavitation and erosion, and/or limiting noise and vibration; particularly in combination with high pressure and temperature systems.
Applications
- Turbine bypass
- Turbine and stop control valves
- Main feedwater pump valve recirculation
- Startup and main feedwater regulation
- Attemperator spraywater valves
- Deaerator level control
|
- Startup system; B&W, CE, FW and licensees
- Auxiliary steam
- HP heater bypass
- Soot blower control
- High-level heater drain
- Sampling systems

CHP - combined heat and power plants
CCI, with BTG technology, specializes in steam conditioning and desuperheating with more than 20,000 installations worldwide. We supplied our first steam conditioning valve in 1929 for a CHP application and in the 1950’s we were supplying our first turbine bypass valve to pulp and paper mills. Our bypass valves have been designed specifically for CHP to provide repeatable and reliable performance to suit the required arduous systems conditions, while at the same time providing accurate control of pressure and temperature.
- Steam turbine to bypass process
- Steam turbine bypass to condenser
- Turbine extraction/exhaust desuperheater
- Process desuperheaters
|
- Auxiliary PRDS system
- Feedwater control valves
- Interstage and final attemperatures
- Other severe service valves

Nuclear power generation - PWR
Critical severe service control, isolation and pressure relief valves for pressurized water reactor nuclear plants
CCI has been supplying critical severe service valves and support services to the nuclear industry since 1971. CCI’s Valve Doctors® are recognized as a powerful resource for innovative design solutions for specific PWR components and complete systems. CCI valve technologies are playing an important role in plant life extension and power uprate for high energy systems. CCI is committed to the success of nuclear power and holds ASME Section III N Stamp Certificates in the United States and Europe. Representative PWR systems benefiting from advanced CCI control, isolation and pressure relief valves include:
Applications
- Primary pressurizer safety relief
- Main steam safety relief
- Main steam power operated relief
- Main steam isolation
- Main feedwater isolation
- Heater drain flow control

Nuclear power generation - BWR
Critical severe service control, isolation and pressure relief valves for boiling water reactor nuclear plants
Over the years, CCI has contributed significant valve technologies to the worldwide BWR fleet. CCI provides innovative solutions for difficult problems inherent to conventional or general service valve products used in critical-to-safety and balance of plant systems. Many of these retrofits have become the new design standard for top performing BWRs. CCI is now supporting power uprate, reliability and flow control enhancement for early generation BWRs as well as advanced plant designs. CCI Valve Doctors specialize in technologies to increase capacity and earnings for BWRs. Representative BWR systems benefiting from CCI control, isolation and pressure relief valves include:
Applications
- Main steam isolation
- Main steam safety relief
- Damped feedwater reverse flow check
- Residual heat removal low cooling control
- Reactor core isolation cooling control
- Reactor level flow control
- Turbine bypass flow control
