Nanjing Huaneng Goes with the Flow
Power plants today are running longer, at higher output and under more sophisticated automation systems than ever before. Higher performance and reliability, improved flow control and tighter shutoff are required from control valves in today’s power plants.
Boiler feedpump recirculation is the most demanding and severe application in a power plant. This application’s severe demands caused the existing BFP recirc valve at the Nanjing Huaneng power plant to begin leaking, which can be problematic due to the loss of energy. To maintain their plant performance, CCI provided a replacement 4-in. x 4-in. (100-mm x 100-mm) DRAG® valve with design pressures of 4623 psig (325 kg/cm2), flow rates of 771,618 lb/hr (350 mt/hr) at temperatures up to 347 F (175 C).
The CCI DRAG® valve will meet the harsh requirements of the boiler feedpump recirculation application, such as tight shutoff and velocity control flow during a very high pressure drop. By meeting these requirements, the plant can continue to run at optimum performance without risk of plant shutdown or valuable loss of energy over an extended period.
